annual killed 26 students and students at sandy hook elementary school. sandy hook students will return to another school on january 3rd as the community continues to grief and say good-bye. >>> dozens of maryland students spent the day making paper snow flakes to be sent to the shooting victims in connecticut. -on henrehan is live. >> reporter: some of the snow flakes were being made by children so young their parents have shielded them from the details of the mass murder. but those families, too, wanted to send a message. on a cold and blustery saturday, dozens of local families mate a trip to the store called green genes. on this trip, they were not coming for the clothing and gently used shoes for sale but came to make paper snow flakes. these deck racials will be sent to the children who survived the massacre at sandy hook elementary. the sandy hook elementary survivors will resume at another school next year. >> we wanted to make that beautiful for them and take their mind off what happened and bright en their day. there is going to be a winter wonderland and hopefully they'll get

weeks since the shooting happened at sandy hook elementary school. and in that killed 20 young children and six duments. a candlelight vigil was held all day long in newtown. 26 candles were lit monday at midnight. volunteers spent three hours in shifts making sure those candles stayed lit and remained burning. many people are now turning to their faith to help get them through this difficult time. >> as we feel our hearts are broken in 26 little pieces, but it's the birth of jesus and we find strength in that, and so we're mourning, but we're also thinking of god at this time, that he'll give us the strength of his son. >> police officers from neighbors communities filled in in newtown for police there so those men and women could have the holiday off. >>> people all over the nation kement the survivors and the victims of the sandy hook shooting in their minds, the youngest victims of the school shooting are being remembered in the nation's capital. 20 child-like angels adoshed the altar inside the children's chapel at the washington national cathedral. this happened on christmas day.

. first, superstorm sandy. thousands of homes destroyed. one hundred people died in that event. devastation that many of us are still trying to recover from. right here in the building i'm sitting in, people who work here are waiting for homes to be rebuilt. enjoying the holidays from temporary shelter. then there was the newtown, connecticut, msacre. thatas influence the attitudes of friends and families and people i know. the tragedy of that day just a week ago, in which 26 people lost their lives, 24 of them were children between the ages of five and 10. it hangs over this usually happy season. even so, i feel grateful this year. maybe more than usual for my colleagues he at fox. with my friends and my family. we live in a country tha yes, has its problems. and we talk about those problems everyday on the show. but the bottom line is this. you wouldn't want to live anywhere else, would you? i sure wouldn't. we have freedom, we have opportunity, and many of us, most of us have a roof over our heads and a safe place to sleep at night. the icing on the cake will be wrapped in b

. a $60.4 billion to pay for recovery efforts in the states pummeled by hurricane sandy took a major step towards passage. is this the kind of spending conservative house republicans are talking about? guest: yes. it's interesting. you've seen the senate. the article stays senate moved towards this passage and it will probably happen next week when they return from their christmas break, the house has made absolutely no movement to put this on the floor and will most certainly be pushed into next year which means the bill will die and they will have to reintroduce the bill and go through some of the same procedure since you will have new senators here in the chamber. it's exactly right. the caller said exactly the discussion going on in the republican conference. he mentioned senator coats. i believe there's a list of 21 amendments they will go through before they pass the bill and i think the coats is one of those the caller will see the senators get a chance to vote on that. senator coburn will have four or five spending cuts to go through so the senate is going to have a lot of debate
